Greetings Everyone,
There were twelve spies sent out by Moses to see what their Promised Land was like. The response of ten of the spies was “We are nothing but grasshoppers.” The ten missed the positive and only saw the negative. Their report discouraged the hearts of the people. These ten were carnal and could only see the negative.
The worst thing they could have done was send carnal men to spy out a Holy land. You’re never going to get a good report from carnal people. They cannot see the promises of God. Carnal people will always see the negative. They do not understand faith and will always give a negative report.
As a pastor I have always had to be careful that carnal people do not hinder where God is trying to takes us as a body. Some people might be smart and cunning, but if they are carnal it can derail the whole thing.
There was a lot of pressure on Moses, leading 2 million people. At one time they wanted to stone Moses, pick a new leader, and head back to Egypt. God never told Moses to SPY out the land, He said to POSSESS the land. “Then I said to you, “You have reached the hill country of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us. See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Then all of you came to me and said, “Let us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come to.” 23 The idea seemed good to me; so I selected twelve of you, one man from each tribe. (Deuteronomy 1:20-23 NIV)
Be very careful, sometimes things might seem like a GOOD thing, but is it a GOD thing?
